    Default Exactly what file do I edit for the Sales Message?

    Ok, I'm missing something really obvious, but after buying the ebook, reading and searching here and reading everything again I just can't find it.

    I want to edit the SALES MESSAGE and other txt on the front page. I do not want a custom theme, the default works great for me, but I've made a 'custom' subdirectory, and edited the header.php and index.php but it isn't changing my text.

    I'm finding files under the ENGLISH place to change, and I see 2 places for includes, so now I'm just confused.

    Please, what directory exactly do I go to and which file do I open to change the stuff in CAPS.
    Thank you.

    If you don't create a custom template, all your changes will be overwritten with the next upgrade/update.

    in particular pay attention to this Note:
    NB: By default the text “Sales Message Goes Here” is located in includes/languages/english/classic/header.php define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'Sales Message Goes Here');

    Mary Ellen,

    Ok, Thanks, so I have to create a custom template, I still don't understand how I do that. Do I copy all the files from the standard template over to custom? And then what do I change?

    The help files tell me to put index in a custom english folder, and header somewhere else. I'm getting very confused. Is there a simple help file that explains this? Thanks

    Ok here is where I'm confused:

    I created a directory called custom, and the only thing that is in the directory is the header.php

    Should there be other things in the directory? Do I need to copy files over?

    I see this from the help files:

    Save the edited file to includes/languages/english/custom/header.php and upload it to your server.

    You only need to place the files you change in your custom folder(s). You do need to select the custom template in Admin - Tools - Template Selection, though, and then Admin - Tools - Layout Boxes Controller - Reset

    What I usually do with a new Zencart installation is go through and add a CUSTOM (or whatever name I've chosen) folder everywhere there is a 'classic' folder. That way, if I need to override a file, the folder for it is there.
