FREE image editing software

I am shocked and appalled that nobody has mentioned the GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/).

Aside from being free, this software has many of the features available in Photoshop and Illustrator. Scripting support as well, for those of you who need to batch large repetitive tasks.

Native to UNIX/Linux, with stable versions also available for Windows and *chuckle* Mac OS X.

I like Gimp. It is similar to photoshop. There are also a ton of tutorials on the net and on youtube.
