Custom Query

I do not know why I always come up against the strangest queries, but thanks to the wonderful ZC community I have not been able (not that I have been trying) to stump anyone yet.

So here is my problem.

We have quite a few linked products (which I do not agree with but I won't rant here I promise) and I need to be able to run a query that shows the number of true products only. In other words total products - linked products = total number of single category products.

I hope this makes sense and can be done. If not, it is going to be a mess trying to get it sorted manually.

Your admin area already shows you the number of products in your database ... on the admin home page.
That number is the number of actual unique products, whether they're linked to multiple categories or not.
