Can I use attributes for this?

Well, I'm not sure if I have tried to do this wrong but here's my dilemma...

I've got a site that requires extra display info on the product detail page...for instance, "artist name", "original piece available", "sold to", etc.

Most of this info is read only, so I thought I would create attributes for this info and then plan to update my records with each record's unique attribute info (unique for those attributes that are read-only...there are other attributes like a comments field that are the same for all) using EasyPopulate or something like that...

When I try to do this though, I find out that attributes don't seem to update per record...all my records now have the read only values of the first record...definitely not my intent..

Is there a better way to do this or a way to update my attributes per record?

Attributes are usually additions to a product:
Pizza -
Attribute 1 = cheese
Attribute 2 = pineapple
Attribute 3 = beef

etc

Why not just include the information in the product information. After all, that's what it's for!

I think the main reason is that I'm a moron...why the heck that never occurred to me is a mystery...I think because I have an excel file with fields that are separated...
