show subcatagories in sidebox

i'd like to show subcatagories in catagories sidebox,
/store/includes/templates/zzz/sideboxes/tpl_categories.php

is there anything in the code that would keep the subcatagories box open throw the addmin i have it set so it opens once you click on main catagory but that's not good enough i'd like to safe my customers that extra click

i was playing with it but i would have to merge some custom coding yo make it work and it wasn't working out
