red flag Weight Error on Downloads - adding 3 lbs?

Totally baffled here. I have my products priced by attribute and downloads are 0 weight, hence no shipping cost. For some reason the downloads are coming up as 1 x 3 lbs on the checkout page.

I've double checked the pricing and attributes of the products. Downloads are all entered as 0 lbs weight (CDs and Print books are 0.5 lbs each)
Products are priced at 0.00, the "Priced by Attributes" button is checked, and the weight is set to 0.

Originally I had Zone shipping and FREE SHIPPING! active; I've since deactivated FREE SHIPPING!, but the problem persists.
My Zone shipping rates all start at shipping weight 0.5 with no handling fee charged.

The thing is, I have two stores installed on our website - one for general customers and one for our authors to order their discount copies. The product attributes, shipping and so forth at the Author Ordering store were set up identical to the Customer store; in fact the zone rates were copy and pasted.

But the Author Ordering store is the only one experiencing this problem.

Customer store is set up using 1.3.7
    Author Ordering is using 1.3.8

Searching for "3 pounds" in the FAQ area brings up this article: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=85

    Thank you all so much!

I did search for this information but never thought to do a search on "3 lbs".

Now I just need to glue back on all this hair I pulled out.

    ;)

If you're having trouble with that, I might suggest this approach or something similar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTTYQZkSBJI
