    Default Reinstall options question

    We installed before we had an SSL certificate and working SSL enabled folders on a unix server hosted by Pair.com. We then setup our catalog, pricing and customized Zen Cart to our liking.

    Pair then installed a Certificate for us and enabled SSL on our account. We tried to reconfigure Zen Cart to work with SSL afterward with no success.

    We tried the following in this order:

    1. Move the entire store folder from public_html to public_ssl
    2. Copy the entire store folder from public_html to public_ssl
    3. Made sure to modify both the admin/includes/configure.php and the includes/configure.php so that - define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

    Question - we haven't added a value for - define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', 'https://') - do we need to?

    Kim here on the forum recommended I find a FAQ post about dual directory installs but we haven't been able to find a post that describes how to do that. In fact I've followed any instructions I could about what changes to make to configure.php but when we make the changes the checkout points to https://www.nrgideas.comhttps://index... which results in a 404

    What might cause Zen Cart to append the extra https:/ into the checkout URL?

    I'm sorry to repost this question in a new thread but I'm asking a new question which is - would we be better off starting over again? If we did that is there a way to restore our catalog into the new install? Would the checkout work now that the https access actually exists before the install?

    Has anyone ever installed without SSL being enabled and then reconfigured the same site by purchasing a certificate and enabling SSL and then going into configure.php and altering it so that secure checkout works. Would we need to copy certain portions of the install over to the secure folders? If those folders had existed during the first install would certain portions of Zen Cart be copied over to them?

    Thanks,

    Doug

    There are two configure files..one in admin/includes and
    the other in /includes
    BOTH have to be configured for SSL

    We did make the edits in both configure.php files - admin/includes and includes. We're not sure what edits should be made at this point because. Is it just that one line as described in my number 3 step in my first post:

    3. Made sure to modify both the admin/includes/configure.php and the includes/configure.php so that - define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

    Thanks,
