Whats New side box?

What is the display of the new products side box based on is it a date period / range and how can I change the range?

All my products were adding in the last few days therefore they are all listed as new....or alternatively can I suppress the random feature of the side box and just display the new product by date?

One last question, Is an amended or copied item classes as new or does it have to be b NEW product to the store...?

In the Configuration ... Maximum Values ...

New Product Listing - Limited to ...
Limit the New Product Listing to
0= All Products
1= Current Month
7= 7 Days
14= 14 Days
30= 30 Days
60= 60 Days
90= 90 Days
120= 120 Days

This then uses the products_date_added field ...

You can alter the dates in the products table via phpMyAdmin to get these arranged better if need be ...
