Standard procedure for localization?

Hi everyone...

Is there a standard procedure for localization? I would like to start translating ZenCart to my native language, because the current one is really in a bad shape.

I mostly worry about ZenCart updates. Does my translation for the previous version go down the drain with a major update, or can I still use it (maybe with small modifications) in the future releases?

I noticed that most of the text is blended into the source. I can overload those with copies in my language, but what happens if the code changes with a new release? It looks like a difficult job to keep track of updated files, despite the available 'diff' softwares...

Also is there a list of files I need to change?

I would appreciate any comment/suggestions on this issue :)

Language defines don't usually change that much - Compare the old to the new and add any new definitions and files.

There is a tutorial for making translations in the Tutorials/FAQ section.

Thank you for your fast reply! When I come up with the translated files, will I just zip the files/folders that are different from the original distribution to release it as a language pack? Is there a software that compares two folder contents and copies the differences only?
