Default Sidebar Mod Undo - Help!

I used the Image Titles mod way back in April to use images as headers in my sidebar.

Want to undo that (hoping for a faster load) and go back to regular headings, but couldn't find the original default_left php.

So, I copied the tpl_box_default_right and renamed it default_left.

Didn't work -- now have no headings at all. Help! How do I fix it?

Are you using the latest version of Zen Cart? If so, download it from the addon section, extract, then just ftp the original to your site.

Of course, that assumes you didn't make changes before you added the image mod.

Your site took awhile to load. I am on a fairly fast connection and still got tired of waiting......

A few questions I have about your site....why do you have a checkout link in the header? I landed on your main page and for giggles, clicked that link and got an error message that my session expired.
Is there a reason the searchbox blends with the background? If I was to do a search, I wouldn't know where to type my inquery.

    Site looks nice.

I know, it does take way way too long to load. I'm redoing pictures and trying to streamline it -- learning how along the way :) Even the admin takes forever.

I have the zen cart master code and used that to replace the one file to no avail. And can't remember if I did something else for that mod. Lesson learned -- keep a journal of changes!!!!

Thanks for letting me know about the checkout button. It's not there on purpose

The sidebox images from Image Titles, if they are similar to the remaining centerbox ones (9k & 11k), are small enough that they won't make a noticeable difference, especially compared to the 100-200+k thumbnails on your home page. When you have something like 4,000k of images, you're going to have big trouble.

Thank you for the feedback. I really liked the image titles -- could be I'll put them back later to see if it makes a difference. The header problem was {don't laugh} the font color was the same as the background color.

What can I do to get my pictures to load quicker -- without degrading the quality of the pictures?

I'm retaking new photos and getting ready to prep them to upload. Any advice is totally welcomed!

Your thumbnails can only display the number of pixels you specify, no matter how big the files are. Bigger files will have to be shrunk to display at thumbnail size, and the browser generally does this in a quick & dirty way which degrades the image quality. So larger files actually equal poorer display at thumbnail size!

Make copies of your big images and shrink them in Photoshop or whatever to the exact pixel size you want for your thumbnails, and load those as the base product images (like productimg.jpg). Then give the large images names according to the convention (like productimg_LRG.jpg) and FTP them to the /images/large/ folder on your server. See the tutorials for complete info.
