Free Shipping Error

Howdy all. I am having a Free Shipping error. Previously, we were going to offer free shipping on all orders over $20. I set this up in "Free Shipping Options," but we were unable to get it to work correctly (see thread: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107078).

In order to cover our shipping costs, we need the order to be at least $20, so to get around the above problem, I bundled the items we were offering at less than $20 into 3-packs, disabled/removed the "Free Shipping Options" and installed the "FREE SHIPPING, Free Shipper" module.

Now, we are able to cover cost, and the original check-out hang up is no longer happening, but...

For some reason the line about free shipping on all orders over $20 is still appearing on the Delivery Informtion page during checkout. Here is what i am seeing:

"Your order will be shipped to the address at the left or you may change the shipping address by clicking the Change Address button.

Shipping Method:

Free Shipping
Free shipping for orders over $20.00
Special Instructions or Comments About Your Order
(text box)"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and uninstalling several times, but nothing happens. Any ideas?

Go to the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box enter:
Free shipping for orders

and select Catalog and click SEARCH ...

What files come up with that text? Perhaps that can steer you in the right direction ...

I figured it out...

I forgot that there is more than one place in the admin menu to control shipping.

Question #1: What is the difference between the:

"admin/modules/shipping/free shipping options" setting, and the:

"admin/modules/order total/shipping" setting?

I had both of them set for free shipping on orders greater than $20. I initially only removed the first one. The offending text disappeared when I removed the second. Everything is working AOK now.

Question #2: Could a confusion between these two settings have been the reason for my original problem (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107078)?

The Order Total module for Shipping as a Global change to control Free Shipping on orders over a certain amount ...

The Free Shipping freeshipper shipping module is designed for Orders where all products are:
Always Free Shipping
0 weight, where 0 weight is defined as Free Shipping

and shows when no other shipping modules show ...

The Free Shipping Options freeoptions is a Shipping module to show in addition to other shipping modules based on a criteria related to Total or Weight or Item Count ... and shows with all other shipping modules ...

There is a very good possibility that the use of the Order Total Shipping ot_shipping to manage the Free Shipping was causing a problem as your other rules would not follow if this setting was tripped ...

So, with that in mind, I tried to reset everything so that all orders >$20 would have free shipping... only it's not working. Apparently there is something very basic about this that I am not getting. The yellow dot next to the UPS shipping module is still there. Here are the settings:

Enable UPS Shipping: True
UPS Pickup Method: RDP
UPS Packaging?:CP
Residential Delivery?: RES
Handling Fee: 0
Tax Class: --none--
Tax Basis: Shipping
Shipping Zone: --none--
Sort order of display: 2
Shipping Methods: GND

And here are the Free Shipping Options settings:

Please install the Modules ... Order Totals ... Shipping ot_shipping ... just leave the Free Shipping in it disabled ...
