Blank page when I add to cart??

Hi,

When I add a product to cart I get a blank page.

On checking the cart the product has been added but I would like to display a confirmation page.

The same thing happens when I try to check out

Is this just a setting I have wrong or is there a more serious problem?

There was a problem with some edits I made to english.php. I'm not clear what exactly it was so I just replaced the original file.
