Okay. I got my ZenCart setup linked to paypal everything should work smoothly.
Nope.
When I try to process an order on my site I get an SMTP error.

So I went into the admin and went to 'tools' 'send email' to test it out.
i get the following msg when I try to email

ERROR: Failed sending email to: "name here" with subject: "subject goes here" SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

So I went into 'configuration' 'email options'
I tried php, smtp, smtpauth, and still doesn't work.

for the email, pw, and host i tired many different options. i verified that everything is correct

we are running on a windows 2003 server and iis6.0 and php5 and mysql 5 and hmailserver

what should i do now? thanks for your help

also tried troublshooting at

still nothing.

we installed smtp virtual server on iis and we changed the port to 50025 because 25 has email installed already on it.

we tried using hostname 'localhost'
and no user name and no pw and set to port 50025

also tried using a gmail acct with 'smtpauth' wtih friendly errors 'false' and port '587' and 'smtp.gmail.com'
when we did that we get this error
SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server ://smtp.gmail.com 587: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. (10060)

Email Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.



please help we're stuck

k guys i figured it out. for those that my be experiencing the same problem here was our solution

there is a typo.

you will know when you the code is generated it puts in '://'
we were like why is that coming up. basically you need to put the < in the code so it fixes that.

Or you could just use v1.3.8a which already has that line fixed.

haha. yeah that would have helped.
i assumed that when i clicked 'check for updates' and it told me, "Your version of Zen Cart™ appears to be current," that i had the most recent version.

but, in fact, I still have this problem here, I use localhost as the smtp server to test all the function, also the emails could work well while the test id buying on store----it can send emails----but while I process the order------the problem will like this: ERROR: Failed sending email to: "mr test" with subject: "ytr" The following From address failed: [email protected]
