two shops, mixing database?

Hello Everyone,

I have 2 zencart sites in which I would like to use a part of the same database.
I have found:

in which is told how to use the customer information on two sites. So happy me!

My question is: would it also be possible to co-use the shopping-cart and checkout?

I could imagine there being a problem when you check out of one of the stores that the store doesn't recognize the other articles, or the products aren't deducted from the stock.

Can this be done?

There's a multi-site module available - I haven't used it, and apparently the author doesn't support it currently.

Yes, I've read this (the link above is from their support forum) however, this is the exact opposite.
They create multiple stores from one database.. I only want to share a couple of things between stores

any other thoughts on sharing all database tables except the products??

maybe on of the guru's?
