Need to change color of navigation bars and footer bars. can't find it on style sheet

Here's my style sheet, I can't seem to find the navigation bars - you know them.. they start out green in every cart....

I also want to change the text in the side boxes... can't seem to change that either...

the boxes and the text are both green.... help.

In your stylesheet you will find the following in certain places:-

background-image: url(../images/tile_back.gif);

In the template you are using, you will find an "images" folder.

This is where tile_back.gif lives.

FTP (in binary mode) this GIF to your local drive, then open it for editing in a good image editor. This will reveal the size, shape and colour of tile_back.gif.

Then, create a new image, with colours of your choice. Save it as a GIF (tile_back.gif) and send it via FTP back to the appropriate images folder. You must OVERWRITE the original image.

Your menu bars (that use tile_back.gif) will now display in your new colour.

I also suggest you use FIREFOX with various ADD-ONS such as Developer Toolkit, Colorzilla, and Firebug. This will help you find out what styles control what elements in your pages.

I use firefox, so I'll have to get the developers toolkit and the firebug thingie - but how do I change the color of the text in the sideboxes..... hey thanks... my shopping cart is now a nice light purple....lol

When you view your site in Firefox (and after you've installed the Add-ons I mentioned), you will be able to show a webpage with the style ID's and CLASSES listed against each page element that is controlled by such styles.

This capacity to display the style identifiers will alert you to what particular style ID (or class) is governing the appearance of the said element(s).

In the case of many sideboxes, the text inside them is usually a hyperlink, so the style descriptor will have conditionals referring to those hyperlinks. (Conditionals such as "a." and ":visited" and ":hover")

On one of my websites (www.edutrade.co.uk), the CATEGORY BOX links are controlled by the following:-

Now, when these specific styles are not defined in the stylesheet, the element will be governed by any "parent" style that applies to ALL hyperlink conditionals - so you may have to write in these specific style defines yourself, making sure that they appear AFTER any "universal" style attribute for hyperlinks.
