Always Charge Tax

Hello,

I'm sure this is a very easy thing to do but I can't figure it out. For my store, I want to always charge tax no matter where the product is being shipped to. I'm not sure what to set the Basis of Shipping to so that it will correct calculate tax. Please help!

Excuse me? Have you talked to your tax people about that idea?

... not to mention I live in a state without sales tax and would not checkout if you tried to charge me sales tax.

Zen Cart is perfectly capable of properly collecting Colorado taxes and, say Wyoming taxes at the same time.

You are only required to collect taxes in states where you have "nexus" (physical location). Amazon has locations in many states and charges tax accordingly.

Most internet shoppers today are VERY tax savvy. If someone from Texas found themselves paying tax on one of your items, they would abandon the cart immediately and find something somewhere else.

I've read the Colorado code and my interpretation is that you would not charge tax on a shipping address outside of Colorado unless you had a location there.

Okay, sorry. I'm setting up this website for my mother-in-law so I will tell her to check with her tax person.
