Adding Features to Product Search

Hi All,

On our site we want our customers to be able to search for products by prices, E.G. £200-£300, £300-£400 etc
then another option to choose by how much memory, processor, hard drive size, manufacture etc.

I know we are going to have to perhaps build something custom here to do what we want, and i have seen a few bits in the forum along the same sort of lines but not exactly what we want to do. Does anybody know how we can create these options at the top of the pages.

There is already a search by Product that you can specify a price range ...

This function does not do what i want, In terms of memory, i would want my customers to be able to sort by type, so DDR then DDR II etc, then by PC3200, PC5300 etc

The same for different kind of processors, motherboards etc etc.

Does anybody know how i can do this?

I can't see the logic here... If people know what they want, why would they search for it? :huh:

I want DDR II PC3200 (so I type DDR II PC3200 into the search option).

If DDR II PC3200 is in the database, then I'll find it.

... or am I just so stupid I'm missing the point here? :dontgetit

We are adding a refine your search function, just to make life easier for some customers, not everybody would search for DDR II PC3200 and would prefer the option to just click and find there products. I understand what you mean though, and we will only do this if there is an easy way of doing it
