Default Reset Product Ordered Counts to 0

    Hi,

Please help! I'm ready to put my shop online, but i need i need to get my oder iD numbers starting from 1 onwards. After all my testing my order numbers have reached 46.

Inside Admin/tools i've Reset ALL Products Ordered and
i've emptied all tables related to orders (appart from orders_status of course) and all customer related tables, but when i create a new account and order a new product my order number doesn't start as order ID = 1!

    Again Please help.

    cheers

This ID number is a unique number used to identify each product (including any test products you may have created).

You cannot use the same ID number for more than one product, even if you delete all your products and start again!

Is there a reason for wanting to change all your product IDs?

    Sorry, I misread that.

The same answer applies to order IDs also. However, it is possible to reset the order ID (to a higher value only).

You can do this by clicking on the Store Manager link under the Tools menu from your Zen Cart Admin.

So why can't i restart my order ID at number 1 and next on at number 2 and so on?

My client doesn't want the order ID's to start at number 47 for example.

I don't get it because i've emptied all DB tables related to orders and clients, maybe i've missed a table.

Is there a MYSQL command to run or something?

Again, order IDs are unique. Even after emptying various tables you shouldn't be allowed to reset the order ID to 0.

I believe that the order IDs are the primary key used within the orders table of your database. You could see if it's possible to reset this. However, other tables will also have to be altered as the data for one order is not stored within one table alone.

This may or may not work as I've never tried it before.

Personally, I would reset the order ID to something like 1000. Not only is this the 'preferred' way to do things (as far as Zen Cart is concerned), but it also allows you to give your customers the impression that you have already made 1000 transactions online. This could be good for gaining trust and generating repeat orders.

OK I understand. I'll probably do something like that. Only problem is, when i reset to something like 1000 and then when i order again i don't have 1001, i have ID 48. why 48, because the number of orders passed was 47 before that. ideally i would like to start at 100, but i won't work ? i'm lost
