    Default TemplateMonster Price Issues... GRRR!!

    Hey everyone.

I have spent a solid week trying to sort this out and have had no luck. After reading things in the forums I wish I had used my hours and hours customising a native Zen Cart template than using at TemplateMonster template. Anyways...

On my product listing page (eg when i go into one of my categories) the prices are displayed on the right by the title and description of the product. I realise they are somehow using the tpl_tmfuncs.php file to gather the pricing information, and I find them very hard to customise (all I have wanted to do is change the color and line breaks). I managed to create a line break by modding the functions_prices.php file as there was no space or break between the specials price and the "Save 30% off" text. However when I modded this file it caused an extra line break in the New Products and Special Products pages (as they already had one).

Incase you don't get what I mean I have included screen shots...

Anyone found a fix to this or know what I could do to fix it? It is driving me insane.

    Cheers,
    Nick.

FYI, the image with all the colored text is the product listing item (where I had to force a line break), the one without colored text is from the new items at the bottom of the page.

Screen shots won't work for this kind of question, especially since you're using a TM template that few of us are familiar with, We'll need a link to your site.

Ok, thanks anyways. I found more issues and got extremely frustrated so am now modifying the template_default into how i want it to look. It is surprisingly easy in comparison to a TM template.

    Cheers,
    Nick

Remember to configure a CUSTOM template system. Don't edit files in template_default and put them back there.

You must set up a custom template first. There's lots of advice in the forum and in the tutorials for doing this. This enables what ZC calls the over-rides system.

(If you edit core files without an over-ride system, future upgrades will be a nightmare).

farestcape is correct. Save your changes using the override system. Please read the tutorials/FAQ about creating your own custom template https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?category=4.

If you're interested, there are free templates available for Zen Cart. You can see what they look like at http://(sorry, site offline)/.

Yup I know about all that... been creating this site and learning about Zen for the past year. I have been making an over-ride website and keeping all the files that I have modified in there so when I do future upgrades it will be as simple as possible.

I looked through quite a few templates but none really caught my fancy. I know exactly what I want so will just modify the default template. I am about half way through my site already so am making a years progress in a day! Oh how times have changed. The discovery of Developers Toolkit about 4-5 months ago just helped immensely!

Thanks for the heads up anyways guys!

    Cheers,
    Nick.
