US & International Shipping

I have been looking through the threads and not sure how to do shipping.

I want to set domestic (US) shipping as total order based on dollar amount.

Ex. Up to $25.00 = $4.50 ship charge
25.01 - 35.00 = $5.55.....

I want to set International shipping as total order based on pounds.

Ex. Canada/Mexico - All other Countries
up to 4 Ibs. 9.95 - 11.95
up to 20 Ibs. 23.95 - 38.95....


I thought the National and International Per Item shipping add on would work, but states module is only for v1.3.5 and I have v1.3.8.

Any suggestions?

You can use Zone Rates zones for this ...

Set the first Zone to the US and the Second Zone to 00 for the rest of the world ...

However, if to you, the US does not mean:
All of the States
District of Columbia
All US Territories
All US Islands
All Armed Services

Then the US in the Zone Rates zones is not for you ...

If you need to define separate Zones by Country/State Country/Region then you either need to clone Table or there is an add-on shipping module for Zone Tables that allows you to define your Zones more precisely ...

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have several distributors and they all charge different rates between flat charges and UPS & USPS, etc. They will not drop ship International or outside of the US. I did not want to try and separate shipping by products. It seems too difficult and time consuming after looking at several threads. Since, they will not drop ship to International. I am on my own and decided to go with the USPS pricing.

Therefore, I decided after much number crunching the best thing to do is divide up between US and International and to divide with dollar and pounds.

I am going to try your suggestion with...

I have been racking my brain with this shipping stuff and am just lost. I downloaded the zone rate addon and there is absolutely no instructions on how to use the thing. When I installed it it looks like the same thing that came as default with zencart. I simply want to charge 10% for shipping within the US and 12-14 % for Guam, Hawaii, etc.

Am I missing something simple?
