And, yes, you can have both Express and IPN enabled, although it's redundant to do so.
Both modules do use the ipn_main_handler.php file for order status updates though.

I've been using IPN. I haven't tried enabling both IPN and Express Checkout.

I believe that I am losing business because of customer resistance to setting up a PayPal account. And, they view the PayPal on my sites as requiring the paypal account. Some customers don't get it that they can use IPN without a PayPal account. How do I enhance my site to train them into using paypal without an account? Or, should I use express along with IPN? I don't understand your redundancy statement.

I've also read about a better paypal graphic to entice customer to use IPN without paypal account. What/where is it?
