Customer Information Disappearing suddenly?

I have been working on this website for a friend of mine. Everything has been coming a long without a problem, until now.

When a customer signs up all their information was processed and a welcome message sent. Upon return, customers cannot log in. Within Admin no customer information is being retained. Any help or advice would be grateful.
