i have the margin-top set to 120px in my div#mainWrapper. works great in FF and could have sworn it was working in IE a week ago. but now the mainwrapper is moved all the way up hiding part of the backgroung image in IE. any suggestions?

Try your margin-top in the body section rather than mainWrapper.
