I do not get EZ-Pages

I know there's a lot out there about EZ-Pages but I just don't understand the concept. I feel like something needs to click and it isn't.
I've read everything I could find on EZ-Pages but I think I need step by step instructions for creating an EZ-Page or two. Is there anything like that out there?

EZ pages are relatively easy (bad joke). Turn them on in the admin and create the pages you need. You can use HTML, but you don't need the header or body tags, just the "meat" of the page. If you look at the Fan Odyssey site in my sig, the "Past Events" box is EZ-pages. All the content is pages from the old HTML version of the site (which was originally for a fan event that didn't use Zen Cart).

Wow, thanks! I actually got something to display in the left sidebox.

Now, this may be off topic, but if I want to customize what displays on the main page, i.e. not have "New products" or "Featured Products, etc. but links to specific pages or categories in the store (or even externally), would this have anything to do with EZ-pages or is that a completely different thing?

You can do that with EZ-pages. There are options to enter an internal link or external link.
