css problem Background Color for MainWrapper Messed Up!!

Howdy friends, I am about to pull my hair out on this one! I want to modify the style sheet for mysite. All I want is a different background color for the back drop and white for the main content. I hope that makes sense At any rate, whenever I change the background image or background color it changes the entire background of the whole site. No matter how much I've tried to tweak it and change it... I will leave it at this mess it is now so that you can see the coding and the problem, but only for a couple of hours b/c it looks so tacky. So in closing... I want most outter background to be (black or an image) and the content (the meat and potatoes of the content & images) to be white. Please help

What version is this and where did you get the template?

As of ver 1.3 Zen Cart does not use the tables that you have and your template has omitted several items important to what you are trying to do

Template from Themestock, I am running the latest version of Zencart, 1.38, Clean install since like March of this year... Have used other templates with modifications with no problems. Just installed this one and it's not working right (style sheet). Do you think it's the template itself?

Thanks for replying. It most likely is the template. Thank you! I just thought I was going crazy!!

It must be as I stated and you have verified Version 1.3.8 does not have nor use the tables that this template has ...

You can switch to the classic template and see that it should respond to your css tweaks

Many thanks! I just tested that, and you are right on the money!

Can I ask you one more question? It doesn't pertain to this issue, but I think it's a fairly easy question. When I install new Templates, is there a quick and easy way to update the new template with my modifications without going having to re-down load and install "all over again"? Or at least is there a quicker way?

This is VERY template specific - - as some have very few overrides files(custom stuff) and other have many and might be ones that your custom modifications reside in and in this case one would have to "Merge" the 2 files to capture the template modifications and yours
