    Default Some images aren't displaying...

    Hey everyone... I've looked through the forums and haven't seen this thread - though someone has likely seen the same problem I do. In a nutshell, after install, I'm not seeing some of my images.

    When I look back at this post: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=73

    Step 9 shows the base permissions to use for the images folders/files. However, by following this formula, banners aren't showing (nor do product images) unless I set the permission to 777. Here's a screenshot of what I see followed by a screenie of my permissions as seen in the FTP client:

    My permissions for the files in question:

    Any thoughts?

    OK it looks like this problem started happening when I tried locking down my admin area with my security certificate. As it stands now - it's actually that in addition to the banner images not showing, neither do any newly uploaded product images.

    Any thoughts?

    As an aside... I thought I had locked down my admin area but when I go to the secure site, it simply redirects to the non-secured site.

    Weird... but still in need of a little help. Thanks in advance everyone!

    It's totally not related to the SSL certificate on my site. So I'm left scratching my head - what could cause none of my banners or other images to show??

    Without a URL to your site, it's very hard to guess what might be wrong.
    Maybe you've got some firewall or content-filtering software on your computer that's blocking the images.

    Apologies for not posting that sooner...

    And I'm looking at the page source... it SEEMS OK. In fact my local build works fine too. It's as if it is permissions/location issues that are preventing these images from loading (because it has no problems displaying images from other locations such as the default logo).

    When attempting to access the images directly, you're getting a 403-Forbidden error.
    That means you've got something related to permissions blocking access to the images.

    I didn't think direct access to images was "allowed" (apologies for the poor choice of words). There *are* however .htaccess files in each of these directories to help prevent directory browsing:

    #prevent directory browsing -- for security
    IndexIgnore */*

    <Limit GET POST PUT>
    Order Allow,Deny
    Deny from All
    </Limit>

    Do you have "hotlinking" disabled in your Control Panel for your web site?

    The control panel for my web host offers no such feature... unless there is an option in the admin module of zencart?

    When I try to link/view my images directly I see the following:

    Error 403 - Forbidden
    You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges.

    I've called my host and they said everything appears fine from the server side - though they did escalate the call for me. I'm just stumped why - even when permissions for all files/folders in the images directory are set to 777 - that product/banner images do not render, yet the logo and header images are fine.

    Privileges have since been set back to defaults, though... don't plan on leaving things open.

    It's not likely file-based permissions. But perhaps it's apache permissions ... ie: .htaccess rules that are too strict for your server? Your host will have to assist with that. They should be able to confirm easily via their server errorlogs.
