number of text attributes based on item qty selected

Hi, I have setup a category for a product that is for conference places. So if someone selects say 3 delegate places to add to the cart then I will need them to fill in three sets of fields relating to the 3 delegates attending before checkout can proceed.

I can't find anything on the forum. I have tried to add the text attribute and this works as one mandatory field for the conference place regrdless of qty entered. But really I need the text attribute to repeat itself by how many places entered. I assume this could be an additional module slotted in between hitting the add to cart button and displaying the cart or going to checkout. Anyone seen anything like this for zen-cart?

What you seek is akin to dependant attributes - - or "if this is selected then do this" - - Zen Cart does not have support of them nor have I seen any module to add this functionality

Hi, what if I come up with a mod that provides an additional form page after selecting the number of conference places and before going to the cart, where the number of form fields generated equals number in cart for that particular item?

Can I insert another section in the shopping flow? and the results be stored in the database as an attribute.

e.g.
1 - I select 3 places, hit add to cart,
2 -go to a page that gives me 3 sets of required form fields to fill in for 3 delegate details,
3 - concat these 3 sets to give an equivalent single text attribute,
4 - store this in database as attribute,
5 - go to cart as usual.

steps 2 - 4 are additional mod.


Is this feasable with Zen-cart?

Zen Cart is open source...So most anything that can be assembled programatically can be accomplished. What you describe would require some intricate rewriting of the cart functions and additional DB records and/or tables added for this data
