Hi,
I have been working off and on to prepare my site by focusing first on Content and Meta-Tag entries in order to insure that I have a quality submission of a sitemap to Google.
Questions:
1. A category in itself is a summary/generalization and not descriptive of any particular product in detail. My own logic forces me to question the need with a focus basis on a customer keyword or phrase search. As an example. We seel leather checbooks. Each individual checkbook has it's own inherent detail. The category on the other hand may on mention "Leather Checkbook", but the detail may have "Leather Checkbook" but will also contain a more specific drilldown like "Side Mounted Checks". Although it seems that there are differing opinions on whether MetaTags are really used by Google and others, the general consensus is that it doesnt hurt to put them in. So I am at a sticking point here not knowing exactly what to do with the category tags etc. I may be putting too much emphasis on detail which sometimes keeps me from getting things done!
2. Sitemaps - I did see in some of my php code where there were many exclusions of links. Most of them were SSL related. My lack of understanding again has stopped me from moving forward. As an example, I had questioned the need for links which originated from a picture link to show a larger picture. Are these really required in a sitemap? Can I only submit those links which I deem important, or will google and other punish me for not including them? I have purchased TrafficBlazer on a recommendation from a friend and I must say the product at this point seems to be rich in functionality and has through analysis functions has provided what appears to be solid feedback.
3. If and when I think my sitemap is ready for submission, will Google tell me that my SiteMap Sucks and provide feedback?
I know this was long but I wanted to put it all in one message.
Thanks for Reading!
Regards
Bob Ginn
