Default Moving zencart from subfolder to root

I want to install zencart in a live site, but I don't want to disrupt the existing site until all is configured/set up with products, etc. I am guessing that the easiest way is to install the store in a subfolder, set up the store, then change the config files to move all to root. Would this be correct?

If so, after searching the forum here, I believe that all I have to do when ready to move is to edit configure.php and includes/configure.php? Please let me know if I have it all straight.

    Thanks in advance.

    Vito

BTW, I am wondering if I should install manually or do it via Fantastico. Any drawbacks to doing it through the auto-installer?

In moving site around between folders, there are a couple more things involved beyond just editing the configure.php files.
The FAQ discussing relocation is here: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=122

You have more control doing it via the zc_install process.

    Thanks, DrByte.

So if I understand correctly, aside from editing the 2 config files (including changing permissions to writeable and then back), and also changing the Session Directory in Admin > Configuration > Sessions, I'm good to go?

I followed that FAQ and it didn't work, all of my links are returning 404 errors, but the search function seems to be working properly. Is there something thisFAQ missed:

I followed those directions exactly, and have rechecked the settings about 10x, everything looks correct as far as i can tell.

The move went perfectly. Cool. www.bowbiz.ca

FYI, if using CuteFTP, moving the site files from a subfolder to root is very easy. On the server, select all files in the subfolder (eg store), right click all files and select MOVE. Enter the root directory and the files will be moved to root. Done. It's then just a matter of editing all the config files to show the new directory.
