Help setting up custom Zones? Don't want multiple countries!

Hi,

I am struggling to setup the shipping costs for our product.

Basically there is only 1 type of product that we distribute within Australia only. (So external countries are of no interest to me)

We have calculated our costs to distribute the product around australia into 4 zones (not the 8 zones which are states, provided in Zencart by default.)

All i want to do is make Zone 1 Free, Zone 2 $XX, Zone 3, $YY, Zone 4 $ZZ

for each item, with no bulk discounts (so thats the fixed price per product)

Any help would be appreciated!

I think you go to admin: Locations/Taxes/Zones Definitions

and Insert a zone - call it "Australia". Then edit the zone to include a sub-zone. Repeat for each state.

Trouble is, you say you are not going to use the eight states/territory, so unless your four zones are state combinations you might get into strife.

I think you can pretty well carve up Australia (or anywhere else for that matter) into any areas you care to make, and then give them ID codes that you later reflect in your shipping module. Try the Austpost Module. You can pop your codes into that.

Does anyone else have a better answer?

Hi,

No i cheated and simply added the shipping zone costs as an attribute. Leaving flatrate in place with FREE shipping to every item by default.

So basically,

you look at my map, determine which zone your in. And when you order your product you select your zone from the shipping zone attribute which will add the figure to the final item price.
