Default Where are my _LRG/_MED images?

    Hi smart people!

I am brand new to all of this. I have a Zen cart designer lined up..and i will be running the site.

I have spent the last few weeks taking photo's. I uploaded the thumbnail images into a category one at a time, 96 by 75 pix.

They look good, as thumbnails...but now i am trying to FTP the _LRG and _MED pics using SmartFTP trail version.

I did this once with my girlfriend and it worked like a dream, now i am at a loss as to how we did it and i've spent hours and hours trying to get it to work.

I still don't even know what the heckers FTP is...but it seemed like i did it....twice successfully, it said it was Transfering to my site.

Once i went into my site and clicked on the thumbnail, to excitedly see the med and lrg pics...it was still just the lil thumbnail.

Am i missing a step? The bigger picture?

I thought i remembered that it just did it once we FTP'd and i refreshed the page.

The file names are the same, except with
    GB-0629 (Thumb)
    GB-0629_LRG (96 BY 500PX)
    GB-0629_MED (96 BY 150PX)

Any wisdom will be greatly appreciated!

Did you put your medium and large images into the "medium" and "large" folders, respectively?

    Thanks so much for responding!

In my raw just started Zen cart page, when i upload images under new product in category, it gives me a browse box that i use to upload my thumbnail. That is the only way i know to upload pics besides just now learning to FTP. I thought that when my girlfriend showed me, Zen Cart just did that part and when i clicked on the thumbnail it showed the page with the medium image, then when i clicked on that it opened a box to the large.

I must be missing a major step! :-0

Thanks....i'm definately still in diapers here! I've read alot but still no clue!

Upon re-reading your question the answer is Yes! I had a _LRG folder and a _MED folder, i used that from my computer to FTP to the site. It showed each item transfering to the site. It's www.kabeladesign.com

Thanks again! Any more advice is extremely welcome!

Ok....so apparently my FTP worked...because i was "playing" around and next to the browse button there was an Upload to _lrg option, so i tried it and it made a fuzzy repeat pic below to the right of the thubnail and when you click on that it shows the bigger image. I am relieved that the files are there but now how to do it properly?

    Thanks so much!

You don't want a *folder* named "_LRG" ... you're supposed to put the large images into the /images/large folder. Similar concept for medium.

    Thanks much!

Ok, so now how do i undo that? I'm sorry i'm very confused. Thanks for taking the time to answer me thus far.

I guess i should of then, when Ftp'ing, taken the pics out of the folder and dropped them into the Transfer Queue? I dropped the whole folder in, which had 95 pics. Now i see in the directory that theres a _LRG and _MED folder, which your telling me is wrong.

How do you direct where to FTP besides just the site. In other words, if i FTP just the images without the folder, will Zen cart place them in files it already has called medium and large?

Thanks again. I hope by the end of all of this i am a Zen Cart Pro, boy do i have a long way to go!

SmartFTP is pretty easy to use. What I usually do is open the folder I want to upload to and then find what I want to transfer in the "local" window. I click on the items I want to transfer (to do more than one item at a time, hold down the CRTL key as you click). You should see some icons between the windows. One of them will point towards the local window. Another will point towards the remote window. Click the one that's pointing towards the remote window and SmartFTP will transfer the items to the open folder on the remote site.

If you are still having problems with ftp, try Free program
named Filezilla...screenshots available on how to use at

Thanks everyone. Still pecking away. You have to be tenacious to do this stuff :-), i haven't even skimmed the top of what's to come, i know.

    Hi Tina!

Thanks soooo much for reaching out. It always amazes me how people are so helpful, and just because!

Well, FTP apparently worked, because the files are uploaded in there, but i thought that once i FTP'd them, Zen cart would insert automatically. My girlfriend showed this to me once, and i remembered that i uploaded the thumbnail from the new products page, in that browse window. Then i did that to all the new products. Then when we FTp'd the _LRG/_MED files to my site, it automatically placed them. THen when i refreshed the page and clicked on the thumbnail, it opened a new page and there was the Med image, then when i clicked on the med image it opened to the large image. This is not happening now at all, i must be forgetting a major step and i spent the past 2 days reading and reading..trying weird things, etc.

One of the people suggested that i named the file folder wrong, on my computer i had the files in folders i named _LRG/_MED and then i ftp's the folder with it's contents to Kabeladesign. He told me i shouldn't have a file named that.

I then went to my computer and renamed my folders large/medium and FTP'd them again.

There in the site somewhere, but i just don't understand how to create what i described above :-0

Any ideas? I have a Zen Cart designer starting my site design today, but i'd rather figure this out myself without asking her right off the bat.

I hope by the end of this, i'll be able to answer someones question! :-)

Misty, i got the FTP to work, thank you so much...but i will check out the program your suggesting for sure!
