Making Sub-Categorgies a List with Products ... Is That Possible?

Hey Fellow Zen-Cart-ers,

Here's a request posed to me by the boss and I am curious as to if it's possible.

Currently we have our "Christmas Cards" busted down in sub-categories by manufacturer. Like this ...


The boss isn't real happy with this and wants the customers to be able to immediately see the cards when they click the "Christmas Card" link instead of seeing the sub-category buttons/links. The kicker is that she wants that list separated into the sub-categories with a header above each one. Sorta link this ...


My php knowledge is kinda slim ... so is this something that is even possible?

I posted on something like this for a printer cartridge retailer a while back. It is possible (and relatively easy) to modify product_listing.php to insert headings above specified products in a listing. This would only work for a single (sub)category as is - it would require eliminating the subcats and putting all the products directly under the main cat.

...Now I remember - that site had hundreds of subcategories that wanted organizing headings.The principle would be adaptable to products, too.

There is a mod to display all products and categories on one page (by yellow1912), and this could probably be modified to work for a specified category and its subs/products.

There are 2 modules, heck I dont even remember where they are now, should be in the forum
1. Display all products on 1 page
2. Display all products that the current category has (including products in its sub-categories)
The second on relies on a module called Simple Category Tree also coded by me. So I would suggest searching for Simple Category Tree support thread first.
