Orders not being received!! Using GoDaddy hosting

This is the second customer it happens to. When someone places an order I get no order confirmation email, all i get is the the payment received from PayPal which is how i know I got an order. The customer does not get any order confirm######## either and worse the order does not show up in the admin panel! This seems to happen when someone orders through Paypal because I tried a test order and paid with check or money order and it successfully went though and appears in the admin panel. I cannot pay with paypal to test it since i cannot pay with my own account. Can anyone please help, this is an important problem Im having and would like to fix it before i get another order.

I think I found out what the problem could have been. I recently got an SSL and made the login's and checkout's secure so they are now https://.... The website address in my Paypal IPN url had Http://... I just changed it to https and hopefully that was the problem. Does anyone think it could have been that?

You can test a PayPal transaction using a second PayPal account (you're allowed to have 2), and then refund the transaction when you're done.

Strange, I thought that was for sure the problem but I made a new account for paypal and did a test order and when paypal took me back to my website it said check out success but with no order number showing. I get no email saying i got a new order and not record of an order ever being placed in zen cart.

Right. Those are classic symptoms of broken communication between PayPal's server and your server. The troubleshooting link I posted has many troubleshooting tips you can follow to sort that out.

Ok I tried some things on the troubleshooting page. I found out that I had some missing information on my Paypal express checkout so that now works, but the paypal IPN still does not. When I pay with Paypal IPN i now see an order number but it is the same number as the last two orders I made. Im checking all the setting for paypal ipn and everything seems to be correct, the only thing i get figure out is what is the pdt token when i don't have one it automatically take me back to my page but when i put in the token and some checks out it loads for a long time then says something like an error about the sql server timing out. Anyone know why im getting this? Is the PDT token necessary?

I tried to get debug emails sent to me when I bought with Paypal IPn and everything seems to be ok except when i received this error

IPN FATAL ERROR :: Could not establish fsockopen.
