remove category links from top of page below header

How can I remove category links from top of page below header?

and Id also like to add links or hotspots to my header_bg image. I cant find any info on this. thank you for any help with this.

To remove the categories links:

ADMIN>>>CONFIGURATION>>>LAYOUT SETTINGS...

Categories-Tabs Menu ON/OFF (Set to OFF)

As far as image hotspots are concerned, these are governed by the MAP function and as it's about 10 years since I did anything with this (it's now old-fashioned) I can't help.

You can create image maps using CSS. Here's a readable starting tutorial - you'll have to do some experimenting:
