Images don't popup

HI everyone, I am fairly new, so please take pity on me - I have searched and searched but cannot figure out how to fix this problem.
When I click on my images, rather than popping up larger, they just become larger in the same window. Meaning that the browser then has to hit the back button to get back to the listing information.
I have image handler installed, but I noticed it doesn't seem to like the ultimate SEO that I installed. I have also tried to install lightbox with no luck either.
I just want it so that when the client clicks on the image to view larger it pops up in its own window.

Scrap the SEO and see if it squares away

I have tried that, and either way the images don't popup - they never did.
