Need to Tax CA residents ONLY

Since we are a CA company, only CA customers should be taxed. However, we just got our first order from a customer in PA, and she was taxed. I thought I had the CA tax thing configured in Zen Cart. However, now I see that under:

"Zone Definitions - Taxes, Payment and Shipping"

... the Zone Name and Zone Description Status says "Not Configured" [with the red dot]. However, I can't see the way to "configure" it so that it's defined.

Is this why the PA customer was taxed?

How do I fix?

Again, only CA residents should be taxed.

Can you please share you success? How did you fix your problem. Also, my cart is taxing both the handling fee and shipping fee. I only want to tax the handling fee. How do I do this?

I'm pretty sure I first had to create a TAX RATE, and then a Z0NE DEFINITION. But it was awhile back, I don't remember exactly.

I can't help you with taxing shipping and handling fee. I didn't even know you COULD tax shipping and handling fees. You might want to research that.

There is another thread going via the main taxation thread about California taxes. I have set my taxation to do County 1st, then specific Cities with their special rates get the added rate.

Search for my user name ' twbeebe ' to find the active CA thread.
