Default Multiple products for one product page?

I know this heading may sound confusing, but here is what I am having to figure out and any and all help will be appreciated.

I set up an online store for a client who wants to sell music downloads. I got the categories set up. He is selling full album sets as well as single tracks for each album. At first I set up categories for the albums according to genre and then I set up the category for the single tracks he wants to sell as individual downloads of songs. Now he tells me that he wants the single tracks currently listed in the Single tracks category to be placed on the album product pages as an option for purchase. For instance let's say Album 1 has 11 songs on it. He wants to be able to offer the full album at one price (which is one product) and then on the same products page that shows the price, picture and description also have a list of the individual songs for sale-11 separate products (I guess as a drop down list) to choose from. Is this even possible in zen cart? And if so, how would I go about doing this? I am assuming that option sets would not work because options have to do with either product sizes, colors, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Usually, what I see are choices like:

    Album $12.99
    Track 1 $1.99
    Track 2 $1.99
    etc.

Where the customer can check the boxes on just what s/he wants and pick and chose his/her own combination ...

If this is what you are trying to do, try using checkboxes ...

Option Name: Music Selection (or something)
    Option Type: checkbox

    Option Value: Album
    Default Sort Order 5

    Option Value: Track 1
    Default Sort Order 10

    Option Value: Track 2
    Default Sort Order 20

    Option Value: Track 3
    Default Sort Order 30

    etc. etc.

Now add the Attribute(s) to the Product with their price, filename, etc.

    Linda,

Thanks for your reply. I will see what I can do. He sent me a publisher file of what he wanted the product info page to look like. If I run into a snag with this, I'll post again.

I'm trying to do a similar thing with my site.

We had been selling just complete mp3 albums in a .zip file and I have an attribute set for that configuration that works fine in my cart (1.3.7).

Using the Option Name / Value description above I tried adding the individual tracks and also added a new value option to list the full album in .zip as well.

Everything in the attributes controller appears to be fine (eg. the sort order was correct on the product page and zc was able to find the .zip and the individual mp3 files in my download directory).

However, when I tested the product - no matter what I added to the cart - either the full album or the individual songs, on the "shopping cart" page it listed just " • - " as the product type and set the price at $0.00.

I swapped back to the old attributes where it was JUST the .zip for the whole album and after re-adding just the album/.zip to the cart I got " Full Album • Zip File" (which were my option name /value that I had originally set up months ago) and also got the correct $3.99 price.

So, my question is what crucial step am I obviously missing here?

Everything appears to check out in the attributes controller and the prices seem to reflect correctly on the product pages - $3.99 for the whole album and then $0.79 for each individual song, but there seems to be a disconnect once these are added to my cart.

Thanks in advance. I've been scouring this forum for the past day or so trying to read all of the relevant threads, FAQs and tutorials but I can't find (or can't figure out) what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

    -Ben
