    Default problem setting shipping rates

I thought I had this nailed but...
What I want to do is calculate the shipping cost by using a per item plus the zone method.
    1 item A shipped to zone 1 = x
    2 item A shipped to zone 1 = y
    1 item A plus 1 item B shipped to zone 1 = z
    and so on.

But I'm unable to do this and if I knew why I guess I wouldn't have a problem.
I've tried doing this by enabling per item shipping. But while enabling per item shipping it asks for a shipping cost. That cost won't be determined though until the customer has selected items, the number of items, and then the zone where its going is defined.
This is where I'm hitting the wall, like so
Help would be appreciated in sorting this out.
    Thanks

    Hi, Feolindo,

I take it you only sell two products.
That being the case, you can set your rate table to calculate shipping on price.
Then adjust the tare to compensate for product A or B, depending on which is the heavest.

I hope i have steered you in the right direction

    Thanks for the reply.
maybe Im making this more complicated than it has to be.
I'm selling a lot of different products but they only come in one of two different weights.
    So,
Is there a simple way to set the weight of a product? Then I can have the shipping based on weight to the different zones. Yes?

    Hi,

yes, i think you are making it too overcomplicated.

You can base your table on weights , and you should be able to come up with a much simplier solution.
Do a search in this forum for "table rates", and you will get lots of ideas.
