Default Feeling Dumb That I cannot Get Products To Show!

I haev been doing websites for over a year with Zen, so I know what i am doing, but for some reason I cannot figure this one out.

THis was a site that I am redoing and the previous web guy did a fantastc job with the design, but totally created something that had to be done manually for ANY updates...don't ask.....

Anyway I am redoing the site completely...just reinstalled all the basics plus Image Handler and Easy Populate, but when I click on a category, no products show up in the main index area?!?!

I have tried using the default template and it still does not work..I also tried uninstalling the (2) above modules and it still did not help...

Can someone PLEASE help me this is making me insane and I know it will be something so dumb.....

It is a barebones site except for the (2) modules above which I believe play nice together?!?!?

    eta: website would help.... http://www.andrealevinejewelry.com

    Thank you!!!!

    LOL. That's normal behaviour.

Most of your categories have subcategories which are what's being shown. One that doesn't is Puzzles, Games, and Toys, and if you click on that you will go straight into products.

The products that often show up below the subcategories are those in the new, featured, specials and upcoming lists. These may not be showing because you have explicitly turned them off (Admin > Configuration > Index Listing) or because there are no new, featured, specials or upcoming products.

Despite the content on the page, this looks like a blank page issue.

    Two ways to go:

Are you using Image Handler? If so take a look at file sizes and physical image sizes, and if any are excessive cut them down.

Do you have the debug mod mentioned in this FAQ installed. If so what error messages are being reported?

Thanks Kuroi.....the products show up in the admin fine, and if you choose "All Products" in the store you can see the number of products, so it is all there....just cannot see the actual products...VERY frustrating.....I have done 3 websites so far and have never had this problem and have wasted all afternoon trying to get it....

I will try what you have noted below......I will post back either way!

    Thanks so much!

Never doubted that the products were there. But you have a fatal error that causes your site to fall over when you try to display them. That's why there's no footer either -the page just doesn't get there.

The two suggestions above go straight to the two main reasons why this happens and provide clues for dealing with them. So fingers crossed and good luck.

Ok So I ran the debug report (neat tool didnt know about it!) and I received this error:

[28-Oct-2008 12:42:41] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function zen_get_generated_category_path_rev() in /home/content/a/n/d/andrealevine/html/includes/modules/product_listing.php on line 168

I have reuploaded the file from my backup....but that does not seem to help? I am going to do a search, but just wanted to post back...

So, from memory, I believe that this means that you're using 1.3.8 with a mod designed for an earlier version. I suspect that it's the column layout mod.

    Several options:
    - get the latest version and try that (best option)
    - get an older version of Zen Cart and add the errant function as "an extra function"
    - or drop the mod that uses it
