admin > modules > payment > select one to be default
Zen-Venom Get Bitten
No, there's no option there to select a default.
The word "default" on that screen refers to the order status used by the particular module listed beside it.
The payment-option page is set up so that when the customer clicks on anything related to a given payment module, it is automatically selected. This includes when they click inside a credit-card field to enter their data, etc.
There is no built-in option to force the customer to pay via a certain method if they don't select otherwise. The choice is left entirely to the customer.
The only exception is if there is only one payment method available for the order ... in which case that single choice is naturally automatically selected.
If you wish to change this behavior, you'll need to write custom code. There are some "Similar Threads" listed near the bottom of this page, which may or may not be of help in that regard.

I think it is a bit of a pitty.
Only half of my customers complete the order. They anyway bother the registration. I do not know why they dont complete but a few less clicks could help at least a bit.
I have some friends with same issue (registration but not completing the order)
Some times the customers take contact and ask where the confirmation is. The thing is they did newer completed the order, but anyway thougth they did!
In shipping there is the cheapest option pre selected and I think that is good.
What payment options do you offer? Perhaps that's the problem?

PayPal "Personal" accounts cannot be used to accept payments from an online store.
HOWEVER, PayPal allows both "Premier" and "Business" accounts to accept payments via an online shopping cart such as Zen Cart.
For you, I'm not sure if there are any restrictions against upgrading your account to "Premier" instead of "Business". You might want to ask PayPal for more information on that option.

Besides it is only in english, many of my customers dont read english. So for them credit cards ar no option in my shop.
