Hi i want to remove the total i have in stock from my product page but when i tried to do this by changing the value to zero in the configuration/product listing the amount in stock remains. Please help

That removes it from the product listing page, but not the product page. To do that you need to go to Admin > Catalog > Product Types. Select the relevant products type (usually Product General), click the edit layout button and turn it off in there.
