Sexing-up the featured/new products lists?!

Hi All
I'm looking for ways to make the Featured and New Products lists more exciting. Maybe I've been staring at them for too long but they're just a bit kinda dull now. Has anyone done/seen anything cool or have any suggestions?

I haven't seen it yet, but I was thinking on building a module for Zen Car that relates products to Tags. Then you can show the tag cloud and click on a tag to see all product from a specific tag item. Similar to wordpress but instead of articles - products. It may be interesting feature for stores with 1000+ products.

That's a cool idea. It would look really good in a center div similar to Featured/New Products. Do it! : )

I've seen the Itunes revolving menu used in a few places eg amazon. It's nice but a bit of a novelty item now.

From the top of my head, these are the properties/areas that can be changed - listed in order of how much I'd struggle to actually make the changes:

Borders
Font - size/color
Hover properties
Background - color / image
Layout of images/text
Animation

Any suggestions?
