Background image on CentreColumn - unique to front page only?

Is there a way to make a background image unique to only the front page?

This is what I need to get:


I figured the only way to get the coloured bands would be to just use a background image. Problem is, the bands also appear on the sub-category pages.

Anyone know how I could get around this?

Edit: I was thinking like, if statements? Can you do that in stylesheets? if(homepage){ }?

If your are applying this through CSS then have a read of the css readme in the css folder for index page or home page specific stylesheet

Had a look, and I think I get what I need to do. What would the stylesheet be called? I'd want it to override stylesheet.css, so could it be stylesheet_home.css? And what would I change for the front page use this one and not the default?

Got it (kinda)! Changed the name to index_home.css, and it works fine. Problem is, though the background no longer shows up on say, the contact us page, it still shows up for categories pages. Any thoughts?
