After a server crash recently I started thinking about the idea of having a duplicate store on a different
host that (if kept up to date) could be used as a backup in case anything like that happens in the future.

The problem is how to keep the databases 'synced' or at least reasonably up to date, like in a daily
backup of some kind.

Is there a good way to keep two databases hosted on different ISPs up to date and backed up?

One of my hosting accounts offers an automatic daily backup but that happens to be the host that
I was going to use for the emergency backup store and is not currently where the main store
is located, can I run a zencart off a database located on a different server / webhost?

You can do it way you have described and have backup
on hosted server...there is admin mysql backup mod
in downloads section
OR
you can have copy on your home computer
using wamp...
