Problems with SSL Folders

I've installed zen cart and it's working fine at http://www.shop.wsycl.org for mainly downloadable images. However, we have paypal website payments pro and it occurred to me that I should really use SSL to encrypt transactions between us and paypal (I'm not sure if that was a reasonable assumption).

Anyway, I've created a shared SSL folder, and copied most of the catalogue to it (excluding downloads and images). I've edited admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php to include the secured folder and set enable to 'true'.

When I click on log in on the website a blank page is displayed:https://vault1.secured-url.com/wsycl...t0663qhc4vuf05

1. Firstly I'd like to know what's likely to cause the error.
2. As a newbie, I'd like to know - should I now be maintaining two copies of the code - one in http and one in https?
3. Do I need a complete copy of all folders in https?
4. Do I need to do anything with the database now that I have SSL folders?
5. Should I have done an install to the https, rather than copy the installed files from the http?

If you have a 2 folder system you must maintain copies of everything in the SSL.

I forgot to mention I was with Fasthosts, and have just read quite a lot of threads on why it won't work! I guess I'll be moving hosts.

Can you tell me if you managed to get this working with fasthosts?

I am about to embark on the same process ( I have zencart and website payments pro working perfectly but not under SSL).

I presume you need to copy the entire site under htdocs to the folder and set the HTTPS server to https://vault1.secured-url.com/www.yoursite.com

Your input would be much appreciated
