Product Sort Order

Hi Folks

In 'Configuration > All Listing > Display Product Display - Default Sort Order' I can apparently set my product listing to Date Added or Date Added Desc. But when I try this or any other option it has no affect. Can anyone help me understand why this is please? I want all products to display by Date Added Desc.

Does your database (product data) contain values in the Date Added field(s)? Or are they empty?

Aha the fields are empty, that explains a lot. I presumed that the date field would have been automatically filled when products were inserted but obviously not!

I'm a bit puzzled as to what has gone wrong here not being an expert on MySQL. Here are the fields from the database:

Field: products_date_added
Type: DATETIME
Length/Values:
Collation:
Attributes:
Null: not null
Default: 0001-01-01 00:00:00

Comments:

Can anyone see what I've done wrong please?

How are you adding your Products?

Are you manually adding them via the Zen Cart Admin with the Add feature? Or, are you importing them?

The products are being added manually through Admin. I've realised though that whatever sort method I choose in Configuration > All Listing is ignored?

The Sort Order on the All Listing only applies to the All Products Listing ...

There are many custom Sort Orders available ...

What is the URL to what isn't sorting properly?

What I want is to have the default setting for all listed products to be in date order descending, but nothing I do changes the current setting of alphabetical ordering.

If you mean on the home page, from what I am seeing you have all random displays of the centerboxes ...

If you mean on a given URL ... please let me know what URL you are not in order on ...

It's when visitors are viewing the products be category that the problem occurs Ajeh e.g.

http://www.divatoys.com/index.php?ma...ath=72_134_135

These pages always appear in aphabetical order rather than Date Added as chosen in Configuration > All Listing > Default Sort Order
