No images displayed

Just installed and started to fiddle....
On IE browsers (6/7/8) All images on any pages do not show - links are ok, but "The big red x" shows on any graphics.
On Firefox, image boxs do not show at all, just text links where image should be.
Have set permissions on all image and sub-folders to 777, still no luck.
Also doesn't show the image in preview when creating a product.
I'm sure its just something dumb I'm missing, however......

Got it figured out. Hotlink protection wasn't turned on for the site.
