Default cURL beyond me.. Help if your using Quadra Hosting

Hi im trying to install cURL, my web host is Quadra Hosting and they have provided me a php.ini file (will post the code if requested). I am unsure as to how to link both the ini file and the cURL exe from the cURL website on my domain. Also i wish to incorporate both Aust post (i am aware of the Austpost module) with cURL and Paypal - Website Payments Standard.
This is a big ask in one post so perhaps just setting up the cURL would be the best place to start.

    Thanks

I have installed the php.ini file into my domain root directory. Have enabled the ext for curl support but when i get to the initial install page with zen cart i get this error message.

PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library 'c:/hsphere.net/3rdparty/php/4.4.7/ext/php_curl.dll' - The specified module could not be found. in Unknown on line 0

    Anyone able to help?

You need to tell your hosting company that the CURL feature is not working ... and give them that error message. They've got a problem in their server configuration.
They probably won't admit that, but it's true.

While your host may eventually get the setup right, this post is like hundreds of others over the years that highlight the potential frustrations of hosting with organisations that do not gear themselves suitably for e-commerce.

E-Commerce is a serious business. If your host is not geared up for it, then move to a host that is - before you set up shop.

My host is quite good. They have a script file that you can add to the root directory of you domain. This allows the uses of a wide range of *.dll files including php_curl.dll. Problem im having now is that i modify the ini file to use the correct version of Php script and also find the location of the .dll's. I know that this is the correct location as the file php_gd2.dll is located however it still comes up with the same error message for curl.

PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library 'c:/hsphere.net/3rdparty/php/4.4.7/extensions/php_curl.dll' - The specified module could not be found. in Unknown on line 0

I have conversed with my host and the assure me that the file is in the correct location. Would anyone have any idea as to why zen cart isnt regestering this file?

This is the last post i got via email from my host...

"The path is certainly correct and the file is present.

Maybe try and find a test script that just allows you to test the functionality of curl only as I would be inclined to think that the issue lies elsewhere."

Anyone got any ideas as to where i get a test script?

Nah you got me wrong they provided a php.ini file for a large range of addons. You just have to remove the // lines in the code for which addon you wish installed

While you are at it, why don't you upgrade or have your Hoster do the upgrade, to PHP 5.2x?

Your previous error msg. referenced PHP 4.4.7 and PHP 4.x is dead and buried.

    Just a thought.
