Hey everyone, thanks for reading this. My current hosting provider puts a cap on MySQL DB's at 100MB. My goal is to have around 1,500 products when all is said and done (I've got 25 loaded now as I continue to test features, etc).
With these 25 products, my DB is already at 580K in size (forget about user/uasge logs, stats, etc). I'm concerned that this will be too small and if so, would prefer to bite the bullet and change hosts now than to get much further along only to realize I needed to do it afterall.
So the question is... if anyone has similarly sized stores (or for you dev types and totally zenned out there)... does 100MB seem too small for my back end DB? How big are your DB's?
Thanks!
(BTW - if I *do* have to move, I'm already considering BlueHost or HostMonster - they are Zen-certified hosts after all.)
I think you've answered your own question - whether or not the 1500 products will fit in 100Mb, I'd switch now.
There's no reason these days to accept those kind of restrictions from a hosting company.
Thanks Steve - I appreciate the feedback. I was hoping I wouldn't have to switch but deep down I think I knew it and was trying to avoid it - especially since otherwise they've been good. Ahhh... we abhor change really in the end, don't we?
Personally and as a Hoster, a database of 100MB or more is HUGE!
The average site will not even come close to using that much. And you can always see your database size using phpMyAdmin. Second last column says "Size" and scroll to the page bottom to see the total size.
