My site is slow?

Hi, I'm completing my website www.gibsonshop.it
I worked a lot on it, but I have a big problem.

The site sometimes is very fast and sometimes very very slow. TOO slow! i wonder where is the problem...

for example: i load the site the first time - it goes on home page and:

Parse Time: 8.484 - Number of Queries: 157 - Query Time: 0.1084741517487 (but it can take up to 20 seconds sometimes)

Then if i load it again:

Parse Time: 1.484 - Number of Queries: 157 - Query Time: 0.0684741517487

thn i go on a product and:

Parse Time: 10.124 - Number of Queries: 208 - Query Time: 0.102143585983

and i surf in the site....

Parse Time: 1.351 - Number of Queries: 161 - Query Time: 0.61490354808

Parse Time: 0.832 - Number of Queries: 102 - Query Time: 0.0979255574951

Parse Time: 1.041 - Number of Queries: 157 - Query Time: 0.0811906430206

Why a so big variability of parse time? How can I solve this problem?

My first guess would have been that your site is hosted by GoDaddy, but it isn't. I have no experience with your host, but I would have them keep an eye on your webserver and/or database server utilization. See if they can pinpoint what is slowing down your database.

If you are on shared hosting, there might be another site running on the server hogging all the cpu and disk time.

Hi i just want to say that i resolved my problems. th problem was the hosting: servage.net

Im a new hosting now and it is very fast

Sorry to bump an older thread but I didn't feel like this required a new one--my site is on dreamhost (which I have read tends to run zen cart a bit slow for some reason). My store isn't super slow, but it could definitely be faster (enabling GZip tripled the speed!)--was wondering how much of an effect removing queries from the index and page layouts that are unused would have? There are certain features that I will never use, so querying the database whenever a new page is opened seems like a waste of time...

So basically my question is: will greying out (or deleting entirely) code for features I never plan to use have an effect on speed? Enough of one to make the effort worth it?

Hi, I tried like you to optmize everything on my zencart,...queries, images, css too!! I was getting crazy but the problem was only the hosting...I advice you to take a professional hosting as i did...It seems incredibile but it's the only solution.

My parse time with servage was 10-20 seconds...now with THE SAME settings and queries and so on its 0,2 seconds.
